Brand Appreciation – NYX Cosmetics

Until a few months ago NYX cosmetics were only available in select stores or online in the UK. Recently NYX stands have been popping up around Boots stores, one being my local a couple of weeks ago. Well I decided to pick up some products, having never tried them before.

We had saw the hype, with beauty gurus raving about their affordable and quality products. I’ve discovered for myself now that the hype is real and the products are worth it.

Though cheap, they are cruelty free and the quality of every product I have tried has been great. I especially love the Jumbo Eye Pencils, of which I’ve grabbed a fair few now. They are creamy and long lasting. Perfect dupes of Illamasqua Sketch Sticks but 1/3 of the price and available in a whole lot more colours.

I also love that they cater from very light skins all the way to dark. Making it more accessible for girls to get the correct products for their skin tones – something previously hard in drug stores.

The liquid lips are also pretty great! In a range of different colours and finishes! I seem to purchase one every time I go in now!

Hope you liked this short post, feeling a unwell today.

Boots Haul!

Hello lovelies! Long time no speak!

With payday a week or so ago I decided to go on a bit of a beauty and skincare splurge… The first place I visited was Boots (UK drugstore) so let’s get on to what I brought…

Let’s start with the pricier products first.

This is the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 02 – Apricot Shimmer £18.00. I’ve already got two other colours of these but this one caught my eye. These are sheer super nourishing balmy textured lip products that defiantly are not sticky. They make lips look full and gorgeous and are really long lasting. I adore these lippies!

I then stopped off at the Benefit Counter, for the first time ever! I purchased a full size of the Goof Proof Brow Pencil in the darkest colour 6 £18.50.  I received a free sample of this and loved it so I had to get a full size. Though looking really dark in the stick the colour is perfect for my brows, it isn’t as dark as it looks. Not sure if it lasts 12 hours as the package says but I love it. I also like that it comes with a brow brush on the end.

I’ve also been on the search for a matte bronzer and had heard the hype of Hoola £23.50. So after testing it out with the help of the assistant I decided I liked it enough to purchase. No more pasty face! Only thing I’m not keen on is the cardboard packaging, quite clunky, not my style.

Onto slightly more affordable! I picked up another Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in 01 Light £4.19. It’s raved about for a reason. You’ve heard the hype.

I also picked up one of the NYX Liquid Suedes in Amethyst £6.50. I  haven’t purchased the Suedes before and this colour is amazing! Just look at it! Can’t wait to use this, I think it will look rad with my pale skin!

I’m not one for expensive mascara, though I love the Lancôme grandiose it’s pricey and only blackens your lashes really haha. So I’ve picked up Barry M’s That’s How I Roll £4.99 to try out. There was no testers so I haven’t a clue what the brush is like but the packing is super cute with little rollers area on and it’s super heavy but it claims to lift and curl. So we will see! Update: 1 star reviews on website! Think I made a mistake going with instinct….Can it really be harder to remove than loreals million lashes?!!

The final things I picked up were NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Cucumber and Cashmere £5.00. Just look at that neon green! This would look super cool as a cat flick! Super soft and versitile I love these. They are actually really good dupes for the Illamasqua sketch Sticks and are about 1/3 the price. They even have a green one which could pass as Cucumber.

Done… Purse – lighter !

Just one question, I’ve really been eyeing the Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette. Do any of you have it? Is it worth it? I’ve been hearing mixed reveiws but it’s just so gorgeous!

Speak soon! Lots coming!

Four Korean Skincare Products that make a difference!

Hello lovelies,

Today I’m back with another post about my love for Korean products. I would say that for around 3 months now I have been religiously following the Korean 10 step skincare routine, and the difference in my skin is outstanding.

A 10 step routine may at first seem daunting, and you may think that it takes hours but that certainly isn’t the truth. I currently use a mix of both Korean and western products. I’ve selected what I like and don’t like about both and encorporated my favorites into my routine. Its trial and error, you learn as you go along.

Before I go into the products I really should mention a book that really helped me on my skincare journey. Though I was following a 10 step before I read this, this book has helped me out so much. From helping me find ingredients that will help my skin, and what skin type I have  to learning all about the importance of PH levels and how they effect our skin. This book is called The Little book of Skicare £18.99 by Charlotte Cho (creator of Korean skincare website and blog, Soko Glam) she writes in a comical and easy to understand format and it’s lovely. If your really intrested in improving your skin for the better and don’t know where to start, I really reccomend this handy little book. I purchased it here

Now! Onto the products I have been really enjoying.

1. Innisfree Juicy Apple Cleansing oil £16.50 purchased here.

This is a really simple but effective oil cleanser, it removes makeup and smells divine. Innisfree is quickly becoming a brand I can really trust for quality, there sunscreen is also beautiful. This cleanser contains plenty of plant and fruit extracts as well as being paraben free. I’ve been using this morning and night as my first step after removing eye makeup.

2. Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off £8.47 purchased here.

I love this little exfoliator! It may not look pretty but your skin will be glowing after! This little pot of sugar based exfoliator allows you to personalise just how exfoliating you want it to be. With warm water you can lessen the sugar granules making it gentler if you wish or go straight from the pot for a deep down scrub. It smells like limes… Mmm! And really does leave your skin super smooth. It’s really affordable too and you get a lot. I use this 1-2 times a week after cleansing.

3. The SAEM Power Ampoule Hydra around about £13 purchased on eBay

This serum/ampoule contains just 3 ingredients and is a powerful hyaluronic acid. Don’t be afraid by the word acid this is an amazing hydrator. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1000 times its weight in water, making this a great step to put in your routine before moisturising. I use this when I feel like my skin needs a moisture boost. As you learn with Korean skincare you tailor every days routine to how your skin is feeling and what it needs.

4. Laneige water sleeping mask £18.66 purchased here.

Another super hydrating product only this one is used overnight. Like the western Origins overnight masks this is made to skin into skin and act as a more effective overnight moisturiser. This mask, though nourishing feels light and not tacky like some do, it doesn’t transfer onto your pillow. It also smells light and not as overpowering as some others do. When you wake up in the morning your skin looks noticeable brigther,  plumper and less red. This really is a cult product for a reason. If you buy on product, make it this!

As you can see all these products are really affordable and that’s the think about Korean products, they use the best ingredients but still don’t have huge price tags. Skincare is huge in Korea, and products are everywhere, constantly changing. They make great skin a ail able for everyone.

Let me know if you follow a 10 step routine, what products do you love?

Some June Favorites

Happy Sunday lovelies!

I know it’s quite late to be doing a June favorites but I’ve only just got round to it!

Last months favorites are a mix of beauty, skincare and entertainment! So let’s get started!

  • Innisfree Eco Daily Safety Sunblock SPF35

Regardless of if it’s sunny or not I always use skincare. I got told reccomended this and I do quite like it. Doesn’t make your skin greasy or grey cast. Isn’t thick atall, feels nice and light. High SPF also, they also do this in an SPF 50.

  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

An overnight leave on mask from Korea. It has cult status and I can see why. My skin is soothed and noticeably brighter and plumped up! I use it 2 times a week and can’t imagine my skincare without it! More In depth post coming up!

  • Lush Rosy Cheeks face mask

Took my 5 pots back and gave it a try. It smells beautiful and made my skin nice and soft. Will purchase this one again though my all time favourite is Cosmetic Warrior

  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

Need I say more! Super affordable, long lasting and cruelty free. They have amazing colours too! Here I have Athens, Cannes and Ibiza.  They can be a little drying which is obvious due to them being matte so a good Lipbalm is needed firsthand!

  • Catfish and the Bottlemen’s new album The Ride

Loved their first album, love their second just as much. Really need to see these guys live, tickets ran out in literally a minuet when me and my friend tried to get them!

  • Revels

Just mmmm… I’ve ate a lot of these…

  • The Conjuring 2

My favorite horror film used to be The Conjuring, after watching this it instantly  jumped into the first place position. It was brilliant! Based on the notorious UK Enfield Hauntings which have fascinated me since my early teens ( yes I was a little Wednesday Adams) Creepy and some good jump scares! Definitely worth a watch!

  • And finally Getting engaged

Just eee! I’m so happy haha! Not much else to say haha.

That’s it for today!

Hope you liked! Speak soon.

Bare Minerals Prime Time Brightening Primer Review

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you are all ok on this dull summers day. Today’s review is on the Bare Minerals Prime Time Brighting Primer £22.00.

I’ve been after a primer for a while and whilst searching on the web I  came across this one, which had a high number of reviews and 5 stars on feel unique. This one also had the bonus of being cruelty free (although word of warning their parent company Shishedo do) .

The product comes in a standard white pump bottle not dissimilar to one you would get at lush. It claims to be formulated without preservatives, oils and fragrances and states that it will add glow to the skin whilst smoothing dryness, fine lines, uneven texture and pores.

Upon application it is a gold colour and quite liquidy despite being silicone based. It also has tiny gold glitters in it though upon application it doesn’t show up.

This product does indeed smooth pores and even out the texture of my skin, it also does improve the longevity of my base makeup. I also like that the ingredients list short and contains natural extracts. It doesn’t however have a brightening effect on my skin. It does give a dewy finish upon application but it drys down to a natural finish. The brightening claim was what made me purchase this product, which makes me sad that I couldn’t see any difference in that area.

I think that this product would work well on most skins, it doesn’t highlight any dryness and doesn’t go oily. However if your wanted a product to give you that glowy skin this isn’t it.

I will continue to use this product but I don’t think I would repurchase.

I hope someone found this helpful!

Have a wonderful day!

Klairs Illuminating Supple BB Cream – Holy Grail?

A couple of posts back I mentioned that I had recently purchase the Klairs Illuminating BB Cream. Since then I have been testing out this product.

It’s a Korean product and is cruelty free, both things that tick postive boxes for me. It also has an SPF of 40 which is great for summer days.

The cream is quite gel like in texture and dewy in finish. It is super smooth and very easy to blend.

I have now been wearing this BB Cream now for around about a week and I think I can say that this is my holy grail base product. It is glowy and has perfect light coverage that could be built to a medium. What I love about this is that it is virtually undetectable on skin. It doesn’t sink into or highlight pores and it is pretty long lasting. It lasts me through an 8 hour shift at work with a light powdering.

I just love the way it makes my skin look. This is just a single application of about a peasized amount with no primer or anything. You can see why it’s a Korean celeb favorite!

A downside of this product that I can come up with is the fact that it only comes in one shade and that shade is pale and yellow in tone. This works fine for me but it obviously wouldn’t work for everyone. I’d probably say any darker than an nc15 and you would struggle for it to look natural.

It does also state that you should avoid using it directly on acne or sunburnt skin though looking at the ingredients I can’t really see why. As I cannot see many well known comedogenic ingredients. I’m putting a picture of the ingredients as If they’re are any skincare junkies who can tell me what ingredient could be the reason why not to wear this on breakouts. I’ve worn it over the odd pimple and not seen anything negative happening?

I love this product but l cannot give it holy grail status until I know why you cannot wear this on skin that is irritated or pimpled skin. Is there a negative ingredient that I should be avoiding?

It’s so lovely I hope there isn’t and that it just contains some comedogenic ingredients.

Please comment if you have the knowledge!
