My Self Love Journey & One Incredible Journal

This year I made the goal of self love. I wanted to look after my health more, treat myself more kindly. Take care of my feelings. This is something that isn’t easy for me.

I have a pretty defective body, one that I feel let’s me down. I see myself as quite a spritely person, someone who would love to have energy. My body on the other hand is a fairly sickly one. At 16 I was diagnosed with a number of heart issues, both of which will need fixing at some point in my life through open heart surgery. Last year in may I went through probably the darkest time of my life, I spend two weeks in hospital after nearly dying with then undiagnosed Ulcerative Colitis, I was anemic, dehydrated, severely malnourished, had a heart rate of 190 . Since then I feel my body has really changed. I’m sick a lot more, often feel unwell, struggle with low energy and feel so much more fragile than I ever have before.

This is why I didn’t treat my body great – I was and at times, still am mad at it. And even now as I write this on my much better lifestyle. Healthier food, daily exercise, drinking more water a day. I still end up in the doctors with the side effects of chronic Illness. This week, inflamed and collapsing veins. Woo!

I stumbled upon a Instagram a good month ago. The name I stumbled upon was Kelly Terranova @love.yourself.lean (please click!). Kelly documented her story about hitting rock bottom seeing her mother struggle with Huntington’s Disease and learning that she too had a 50% chance of inheriting it too. She speaks about her journey to self love and how we should all love and nourish ourselves. Her story resonated with me, why should I not look after my body? Even though it is a sickly one, it still gets up and fights for me every day? It still loves me, why shouldn’t I love it?

To help with my self love journey I picked up a copy of her Love Yourself Lean Journal. A 365 page a day journal to document gratitude, love and health. It focuses on our personal spiritual, physical, mental and emotional health.

The journal is beautiful and really well made. With study pages and beautiful gold embellishment. This journal has hashtags on Instagram so you can speak to other people with this book, send words of encouragement and kindness. It’s a family around the world of caring people. You are not alone in your journey ever!

Here’s some pictures – I’ve already started colouring mine in!

I also love how Kelly is also always there, liking your photos, updating her page with thanks and encouragement for us. She’s now also doing live chats on Facebook which I find wonderful and so very helpful.

I feel as though this journal has really helped me to stay humbled and grateful towards myself and my body. Even when my body has its broken days. I really hope you take a look at Kelly’s page and maybe even purchase a journal for yourself. It was the best thing I’ve done this year.

I just want to Thank you – Kelly, for having this journal available, you have no idea how much of a help it is!

Guys please check her out! Go to her website here!

Current Beauty,Skincare and Lifestyle Favourites

Hello Lovelies!

I haven’t posted many of my Favorites recently on the blog so I thought I would share a few today. There’s quite a mix going on at the moment so I’ve split them into categories. Let’s go!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Pallette £39.00: I missed this the first time round when it was limited edition and was absolutely gutted. I brought it the day it was released the second time round and was so excited when I saw it waiting on my door step. The colours are beautiful the packaging super cute – it smells amazing and despite it being mostly shimmer, I’m still in love with it! Only downside is the lack of actual peach colours and the fact it doesn’t come with a brush, something I like for travel.

Bare Minerals Products: I’m going to do a brand appreciation on these guys after my recent discovery. I think I’ve found a holy grail and converted for life. It’s natural, flawless and perfect. Vague I know but look out next week for a in depth review of all things bare minerals!

Banila Co Miss Flower, Mr Honey Cream £47.90: Another skin saviour from Korea this thick gel cream is a lifesaver for super dry, damaged winter skin.  Smells gorgeous (of honey of course), leaves the skin with a velvety feel and hydrates like nothing else I’ve ever tried. It’s incredibly rich, I can only use it at night and this may be offputting for some. I reccomend purchasing a sample before buying the whole jar as this is a product that is a saviour for some and a breakout nightmare for others.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish in Rose and Lavender £15.50:I also need to do a brand appreciation for these guys! I’ve used them so much offer the last few months. This is a lot milder in scent than the original and for that reason I love it more. This is the perfect makeup remover to help you unwind at nighttime, it removes my everyday makeup perfectly. Though if I was wearing a fair bit of makeup (say a night out)  I would have to use an eye makeup remover first. Then finish with this beauty. Every bit as lovely as the original but gentler in scent, animal testing free a definate must try if you haven’t.

Sunday Riley’s Skincare: Its no secret that I love her products, I’ve posted a hundred times before. I’ve recently added to my stash. The products are a splurge but due to the almost instant effects they have I feel that it is definitely worth investing in. My skin is honestly the best it has ever been and I think a large part of that is because of some of these products. In particular Luna £85.I feel like I’m really treating my skin when I use these.

Hygge: the danish art of happiness £9.09: This little book was a spontaneous purchase and I can’t wait to read. Filled with beautiful pictures and tips and tricks I can’t wait to learn how I can add this extra little bit of happiness into my daily life!

Waterbottle £9.99: As mentioned previously in my 2017 goals I want to drink more water day to day. This is basically a knock off Swell waterbottle but a third of the price. It holds 500ml, keeps water cold and looks pretty. Not much else to say but I’ve been using it daily!

Neals Yard Esta Aroma Diffuser £50 and Oil Blends: This was my favourite Christmas present I received this year. I love the calming and relaxing scent of essential oils and this just makes them even more wonderful. This machine turns water and essential oils into a beautiful scented cold steam. This can be left diffusing even whilst you sleep and it just cuts off after the water is gone. I love putting this on during home yoga sessions and after stressful days just to help me destress and relax. You literally use 3 drops of oil and the scent fills multiple rooms. Beautiful! My favorite Blend at the moment is Womens Balance £9.70.A reccomendation if you love to unwind!

There we go! What are your current Favorites? Look out for another post next week!

Guess who’s Back! 2017 Goals

I know I know I’ve been gone a long time. The Christmas period as a retail supervisor is long shifts and busy busy weeks. But it’s calmed down now! And I’m back!

I know we’re nearly half way through January now but I still feel it’s important to document my goals for this year. If for nothing to reflect on I suppose.

So let’s make this quick

1. “Look after myself better; physically, mentally and emotionally”

This is the most important one. I want to improve my health get fitter, excercise more (to get stronger, not loose weight). Listen to how I’m feeling and know when it’s time to stop. With my ulcerative colitis there are times when I know I should take a rest but I don’t. This year I want to listen to my body and care for it properly.

2. “Drink more water”

This goes hand in hand with the first one.  I’m a tea addict so this could be quite hard! I’m never one for fizzy drinks but tea and coffee, I’m bad. So yes! Drink more water!

3. “Do more Yoga!”

I love yoga! I always have yet it took a back seat last year, I only picked it back up the start of December. This year with the help of the queen of bendy, Cat Meffab. I’ve religiously been checking out her  YouTube and Blog (click the links! She’s a goddess!) I have been doing yoga every single day. She’s currently doing a month of yoga flows … Yoganuary – 1 video every day! I’ve been absolutely loving it. It helps me unwind at the end of the workday and the flexibility I previously had is coming back quickly. Her videos are for begginers and advanced alike.

4. “Continue my transition to vegan”

This is another important one to me. My journey from vegetarian to vegan so far has taken about a year to get where I am now. I have to take it slow due to my Colitis so I don’t end back up at stage one in hospital. Currently all I really have left to stop is eggs and the odd slice of cheese. Coming almost completely off dairy really is one of the best things I’ve ever done not only for my physical health but appearance! My skin has never looked better. I understand not everyone agrees with vegainism and that is perfectly fine to me. Any negative comments will be ignored- It’s my choice after all 💕

5. “Save money”

This is self explanatory but I also want to not kick myself if I don’t save the desired amount. Sometimes some months are more expensive than others so If I spend a little more than I wish one month. I don’t want to kick myself. As long as I save something, it’s good.

6. “Blog more”

Another self explanatory one but one I’m really excited for. I love blogging and really enjoy it when it gets in full swing! I can’t wait to get back to writing and venting on here!

See you Saturday with a new post!

A step in the right direction

I took break from blogging last week. Truth is I’ve just been so busy! But have no fear I’ve got some really fun things happening next week! Look out for that post! Today’s post is more of a serious one.
To some this may seem simple – just deleting an app but to me this was a really hard decision. I have a secret and today I decided I needed to let go to the last of it. For years now I have been calorie obsessed I have counted every little thing I have put into my body and ripped myself apart with it. I would eat so few calories and still it was too much. I would wonder why I felt so lifeless all the time. I ruined my body and my health. It took until I got diagnosed ulcerative colitis to realise that my body actually needed calories and nutrients. It scared me more than what doctors had told me in the past. I weighed so little when i left hospital despite the fact I had gained weight whilst in there. Since then I’ve stuck to my vegetarianism as before but no longer fuss about what I eat. I ensure that I eat a healthy calorie count and no longer beat myself up about it. I no longer live with numbers constantly in my head. I don’t freak out over a slice of bread or the calories in a banana,  I now enjoy filling my body with nutritious food and love breakfast time! Loosing this devastating app was my final step to progress. I’m proud. I feel stronger, fitter and more with it. I’m happier now despite the odd setback. I still need to remind myself it’s ok sometimes and I need to eat to stay healthy but I’m a new person to who I once was.

Sometimes something not great needs to happen to change your perspective on life. It needs to happen to make you realise what needs to be done.

Four Korean Skincare Products that make a difference!

Hello lovelies,

Today I’m back with another post about my love for Korean products. I would say that for around 3 months now I have been religiously following the Korean 10 step skincare routine, and the difference in my skin is outstanding.

A 10 step routine may at first seem daunting, and you may think that it takes hours but that certainly isn’t the truth. I currently use a mix of both Korean and western products. I’ve selected what I like and don’t like about both and encorporated my favorites into my routine. Its trial and error, you learn as you go along.

Before I go into the products I really should mention a book that really helped me on my skincare journey. Though I was following a 10 step before I read this, this book has helped me out so much. From helping me find ingredients that will help my skin, and what skin type I have  to learning all about the importance of PH levels and how they effect our skin. This book is called The Little book of Skicare £18.99 by Charlotte Cho (creator of Korean skincare website and blog, Soko Glam) she writes in a comical and easy to understand format and it’s lovely. If your really intrested in improving your skin for the better and don’t know where to start, I really reccomend this handy little book. I purchased it here

Now! Onto the products I have been really enjoying.

1. Innisfree Juicy Apple Cleansing oil £16.50 purchased here.

This is a really simple but effective oil cleanser, it removes makeup and smells divine. Innisfree is quickly becoming a brand I can really trust for quality, there sunscreen is also beautiful. This cleanser contains plenty of plant and fruit extracts as well as being paraben free. I’ve been using this morning and night as my first step after removing eye makeup.

2. Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off £8.47 purchased here.

I love this little exfoliator! It may not look pretty but your skin will be glowing after! This little pot of sugar based exfoliator allows you to personalise just how exfoliating you want it to be. With warm water you can lessen the sugar granules making it gentler if you wish or go straight from the pot for a deep down scrub. It smells like limes… Mmm! And really does leave your skin super smooth. It’s really affordable too and you get a lot. I use this 1-2 times a week after cleansing.

3. The SAEM Power Ampoule Hydra around about £13 purchased on eBay

This serum/ampoule contains just 3 ingredients and is a powerful hyaluronic acid. Don’t be afraid by the word acid this is an amazing hydrator. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1000 times its weight in water, making this a great step to put in your routine before moisturising. I use this when I feel like my skin needs a moisture boost. As you learn with Korean skincare you tailor every days routine to how your skin is feeling and what it needs.

4. Laneige water sleeping mask £18.66 purchased here.

Another super hydrating product only this one is used overnight. Like the western Origins overnight masks this is made to skin into skin and act as a more effective overnight moisturiser. This mask, though nourishing feels light and not tacky like some do, it doesn’t transfer onto your pillow. It also smells light and not as overpowering as some others do. When you wake up in the morning your skin looks noticeable brigther,  plumper and less red. This really is a cult product for a reason. If you buy on product, make it this!

As you can see all these products are really affordable and that’s the think about Korean products, they use the best ingredients but still don’t have huge price tags. Skincare is huge in Korea, and products are everywhere, constantly changing. They make great skin a ail able for everyone.

Let me know if you follow a 10 step routine, what products do you love?

Some June Favorites

Happy Sunday lovelies!

I know it’s quite late to be doing a June favorites but I’ve only just got round to it!

Last months favorites are a mix of beauty, skincare and entertainment! So let’s get started!

  • Innisfree Eco Daily Safety Sunblock SPF35

Regardless of if it’s sunny or not I always use skincare. I got told reccomended this and I do quite like it. Doesn’t make your skin greasy or grey cast. Isn’t thick atall, feels nice and light. High SPF also, they also do this in an SPF 50.

  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

An overnight leave on mask from Korea. It has cult status and I can see why. My skin is soothed and noticeably brighter and plumped up! I use it 2 times a week and can’t imagine my skincare without it! More In depth post coming up!

  • Lush Rosy Cheeks face mask

Took my 5 pots back and gave it a try. It smells beautiful and made my skin nice and soft. Will purchase this one again though my all time favourite is Cosmetic Warrior

  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

Need I say more! Super affordable, long lasting and cruelty free. They have amazing colours too! Here I have Athens, Cannes and Ibiza.  They can be a little drying which is obvious due to them being matte so a good Lipbalm is needed firsthand!

  • Catfish and the Bottlemen’s new album The Ride

Loved their first album, love their second just as much. Really need to see these guys live, tickets ran out in literally a minuet when me and my friend tried to get them!

  • Revels

Just mmmm… I’ve ate a lot of these…

  • The Conjuring 2

My favorite horror film used to be The Conjuring, after watching this it instantly  jumped into the first place position. It was brilliant! Based on the notorious UK Enfield Hauntings which have fascinated me since my early teens ( yes I was a little Wednesday Adams) Creepy and some good jump scares! Definitely worth a watch!

  • And finally Getting engaged

Just eee! I’m so happy haha! Not much else to say haha.

That’s it for today!

Hope you liked! Speak soon.

The most wonderful week!

Hello lovelies!

I write this at 6am on the day we leave our little cabin in Sherwood Forest and I couldn’t have had a more memorable birthday week. As for why I’m up at 6. I’m far too hot and can’t sleep!

This isn’t going to be an amazing or overly interesting post, but it’s more of a diary for me. I have honestly had the most relaxing time and some of the funniest and loveliest experiences from the swan knocking on our door! Yes a swan!

Or my boyfriend of 4 years finally dropping the question… I said yes! Blubbering like an idiot of course! He picked a beautiful ring too. He has been my rock these past few years, through thick and thin and I couldn’t ask for anyone better to have in my life and hold in my heart.

This isn’t going to be a long post, more just pictures and memories. A little picture log for myself. I honestly adore British holidays like this, I prefer them to holidays abroad. The quite cabins and all the nature really helps me to destress. This year has been really tough with a number of things and illness and this was just what we needed to turn it around.

Just check out that squirrel guy! He was super eager for a photo! He jumped right up in front of me for it!

Our home for the week.

This holiday… and the football… gave me time to pick up the paintbrush again! Something I love to do, even if I’m not great. I love botanical art and have a huge collection of vintage books laced with pressed flowers and painted illustration.

Anyway! Enough of the babble! I’ve got some exciting reviews lined up and a huge haul of products on their way so stay tuned!

I hope you all had a gorgeous week.
